FAQ
It says “cannot verify the developer” or “Moment is damaged”
Both prompts have the same cause: Moment isn't on the App Store and isn't signed with an Apple developer certificate, so macOS warns about it like any unsigned app — nothing is wrong. You only need to allow it once:
First double-click Moment once (click “Done” in the dialog), then open System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll to the bottom — you'll see “Moment was blocked”. Click “Open Anyway” and confirm with your password. After that, double-click works normally.
If it says “damaged”, or the “Open Anyway” button never shows up: the file isn't damaged — macOS quarantined the download. Open Terminal, paste this line and press Return (it asks for your login password; nothing shows as you type):
sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Moment.app
If you put Moment somewhere other than Applications, replace the path above. Then double-click as usual.
Which Macs are supported?
Requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later, and currently runs on Apple silicon Macs only (M1 and newer). There is no Intel build yet.
How do I install it?
Download Moment.dmg → double-click to open it → drag Moment onto the Applications shortcut next to it → open it once using the first answer above. After that the app checks for updates itself (Settings › General › Version); one click upgrades and your data stays.
Where is my data?
Only on your Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/com.portfoliomoment.mac/. No account, no cloud. Updates and reinstalls never touch it. To wipe everything, delete that folder.
The app sends anonymous usage statistics — feature-usage counts such as “saved a buy” or “tapped refresh”, plus app version / macOS version / language — to decide what to improve first. It contains no portfolio data whatsoever: no amounts, holdings or tickers, and no account or personal information.

I got a new Mac. How do I move my license?
A license is tied to one Mac. On the old machine choose Settings › Deactivate this Mac, then enter the same key on the new one.
